International Aid Organization Dietitian

As RDs, we’re naturally so in-tune with the needs of the world. Often, our main motivator is helping people and changing the world for the better through nutrition. As an RD for an International Aid Organization like UNICEF or the World Health Organization, you’d address nutrition-related challenges in developing countries. This means, of course, traveling to a lot of these third-world areas and meeting people and figuring out how to meet their needs while enveloped in their beautiful culture.

In this role, you’d work on mitigating malnutrition, establishing food security, improving micronutrient deficiencies, responding in emergency situations like natural disasters, training local health care workers in proper nutrition, and advocating for policy changes for better health in the area. RDs always make an impact in a big way, but that is especially true with an International Aid Organization Dietitian. The salary of an RD varies a lot based on where you are and what organization you work for. For instance, a government-based entity will likely offer higher pay than a non-profit organization.

Private Online Dietitian

For the most travel freedom, having your own online private practice is by far the best choice! No one will tell you where to live or when to move, meaning you can go anywhere for as long as you like whether you just need to move closer to a family member temporarily or want to live abroad and establish roots in a foreign country. When you meet with your clients online, you can truly live just about anywhere as long as there is an internet connection!

Plus, when work isn’t directly sponsoring your travel, they don’t control what you do on a day-to-day basis either. Whereas with the other roles, your managers may have your schedule so packed, you don’t have any time to explore or enjoy your new destination. As a private online RD, not only do you have the freedom to work where you want but also when you want. It allows for amazing work-life balance while you fulfill multiple passions—helping people achieve their wellness goals AND seeing the world.

Beyond the benefits of working when and where you want, private RDs can also help who they want anywhere in the world and have unlimited income-earning potential. There are no salary caps when you work for yourself! Of all the dietitian job types out there, I feel strongly that the one that gives you the life you deserve is being a private RD. No more feeling undervalued, underpaid, and underappreciated in a 9-5. It’s time to do this thing yourself!
